Windows 7: Bluray playback

Bluray playback

I just got my first Bluray drive and inserted a disc.

I also downloaded Make MKV and burned it to my HDD. MakeMKV - Make MKV from Blu-ray and DVD

The disc would not play, so I downloaded Arcsoft TotalMedia 6.

The disc opens and a keypad shows up ( says mouse not applicable), but there doesn't seem to be a way to play the main movie.

I have found that I can use VLC, but the Youtube videos say I have to upgrade VLC tp 2.0, which involves registry changes which I am hesitant to do.

Any program suggestions (even paid) that are user-friendly, or should I go the route of upgrading VLC?

Thanks,

Paul

VLC has a dev website about bluray and am assuming you've read it. VLC Blu-Ray

five-best-blu+ray-playback-suites

I can't be of more help as I don't have a bluray drive.

The information given by you is not sufficient enough to analyse and infer what exactly is the problem.

1. What exactly is the error message you get when you try to play the bluray on TMT6?

2. Your drive details?

3. Bluray title and region code? Did you try any other title?

4. Didn't your drive come with any software for Bluray playback?

Anyway, download the 21 day trial version of AnyDVD HD , run it in the background and check whether you are able to play the Bluray.

Error message says - Copywrite protected. This is the original Bluray disc.

This is Bluray Player - http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...ves/BDR-208DBK

I burned it to my HDD - It shows 30gb, but all choices inoperable.

Bluray is Standup guys - Region USA.

What is your opinion on upgrading VLC through Registry changes?

Can't download Anydvd - guess I downloaded in the past and says Trial expired.

If it doesn't work via the commercial software I doubt vlc is going to do it.

I think we should try and get it to work via powerdvd. How are you connecting to your monitor? VGA/DVI/HDMI

Do you have the latest drivers for your Intel HD?

I am beginning to suspect it might be HDCP blocking you.

Power Dvd does work, but I can't get it to show main menu - stuck going through all previews.

Connected by DVI.

All Intel drivers current.

When does it say Copywrite protected?

Have you update powerdvd?

That was on Arcsoft - Power Dvd (as I said above) plays, but no way to get to main menu.

Is powerdvd updated as I have read people have had issues with bluray menus and an update fixed it and are you playing the bluray image or the physical disc?

The disc plays - no menus.

The image (pic above) won't play - tried all three choices.

Bluray playback
I currently have an oem copy of powerdvd 7 installed and it works fine, but I was wondering if Powerdvd 11 had any real benefits worth upgrading to as far as playback quality? I don't have a surround sound setup and I don't intend to anytime soon, I'm more concerned with the quality of the video...
