I have a question about x64 runing 32bit software.

Hi,
I have a question about windows.

I installed windows 7 pro x64, and a friend told me that you can not install 32bit application on a x64, I though that you can install both 64bit and 32bit on a x64 system, Is this true or not. Why I'm asking is because I use alot of 32bit application's and he told me that I have to use a virtual machine to run 32bit. I dont know where to put this question at, so Im sorry if I have put it in the wrong thread. Thanks

You are correct, you can use 32 & 64 bit programs on a x64 system, he may be getting confused with very old 16bit programs which would require a compatible OS in a VM.
