KEY Logger Program under Windows 7

    HI,

I hope this is ok to post here. I don't know if this is a security setting problem or if it is just related to compatibility with vista.

I normally keep a small program running in the background on my personal computer called key logger. It logs everything I type. I installed it on my new windows 7 computer, and the computer displayed a warning about it being a possible security threat, I said ALLOW. The keylogger appears to be running just fine, but it is not recording into the log file for some reason. I also tried a different keylogger, and I am seeing the same problem. Can anyone give me any idea how to fix this? Thanks very much.

I am fine with using a different program as well, it does not have to do anything special, it does not need to be hidden. Just needs to record all my keystrokes for my personal records.

Hi Jamie, and Welcome to the "Seven Forums"
Check in the "Tutorial" section of the Forums, there might be something in there that could help. Have never used a key logger, however, you could also try Google, or Bing to see what is out there. Ran "key logger" on Google, and came up with a great deal of information. Good Luck.

I use the exact opposite . . . a program called "keyscrambler" that encrypts keystrokes to defeat keyloggers. Just an extra layer of security for me. Awesome app by the way and they have a free version that encrypts keystrokes for browsers (the most important of the things to encrypt) and a few other apps.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried several different keylogger programs and experienced problem with all of them. I manually increased the permision for the directory the keylogger is in, and now it works just fine. It seems odd that I would have to do that since I am logged in with the only administrator account on this computer.

I write on forums like this quite frequently, after I lost a couple nice long posts due to site errors, I said never again and found a keylogger. It is also quite a nice tool if I accidentally delete part of a document while I am writing, and I want to get it back.

    Thanks for the assistance.
