
I fixed it. Download Webroot Internet Essentials,
TRIAL version. As part of the install, it removes the old version. When it's fully installed,
DO NOT RE-BOOT. Just tell Windows you will re-boot later. Then without launching, go to the Control Panel and uninstall the trial version. Once that last step is finished, re-boot and you won't find Webroot on your system.
Of course, if you are in love with Webroot, you can re-boot and launch when it asks the first time.
Caveat: You must ensure Windows firewall and any other antivirus program is not operating before installing the trial version but you don't usually have to uninstall those.
Don
