Computer freezes when virtual machine starts

Recently I had my computer crash, and I can't figure out the problem. It completely freezes when i start my virtual machine (VirtualBox). I reinstalled OS and it didn't solve the problem. I tried vmware and same thing happens. The only thing that worked is Win7's virtual xp but that's not what I want to use. I tried to use different virtual hard disk (VHD instead of VDI) didn't work. Virtualization Technology is enabled. I did performance check in bios and asus pc diagnostics, came back with no errors. Someone please give me a clue. I am very good with computers but I can't figure this out. Computer was working fine for almost a year till a few days ago. Thank you,

    My setup
    Win 7 Ultimate
Asus M5A78L-M LX3 board (Onboard Video)
    AMD FX8350
    3 HDs (total 2TB)
    400 Watt PS
    4GB Memory

Does it happens only when running the VMs?
If so, maybe you're allocating too much resources for the virtual machine, not leaving enough for the real thing to run. Check the memory settings and how many cores you've assigned. At most, give the VM 2GB RAM, possibly less, and a single core to test.
