Can't Uninstall Magic Disc, Causing Crashes

So I installed magic disc not seeing on the internet that people are having problems with it, and now it doesn't work and it's causing crashes. I can't even uninstall it from safe mode, how would I get rid of a program like this?

Hi,

If you can still boot in , try this (works fine on 64 bit - tho. it only uninstalls 32 bit apps. )

Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Uninstall Software, Remove Programs, Solve uninstall problems

Hope it helps

I finally managed to get rid of it with a system restore.

Lucky you
I didn't have a System Restore point available, but I figured out how to uninstall it:

1. Boot into Safe Mode
2. Browse to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers
3. Delete mcdbus.sys (this is the MagicISO SCSI Host Controller which is what's causing all these problems!!)
4. Reboot, and now you can uninstall it

Voila!

Ah, nice. How is it that a normal program like this can end up being so insidious?

In my estimation, it has to do with how insidious a driver like this can be, by its very nature. Since it's working at such a low level, and it interacts with so many windows services (and Explorer, for one, basically tries to probe it at every chance it gets), this ends up causing red flags to be thrown all over the place and thus the indubitable crashes.

:P

that's my.. uh.. rather untechnical understanding of it.

One question though, how didn't you have a system restore point? I had one that was made during the beginning of the magicdisc installation.

It's kind of a habit, but when I install windows I go and disable system restore altogether.

Hello beatsme

Never a good idea to disable system restore before you have all your apps installed and stable even then its better to customise the resource use than disable it altogether - It's saved so many people (including me )
