Seeking Pic/image merge (w/text or small img) batch application

I don't know if what I have in mind exists or not. I am hoping the following description is enough to determine - is this possible and if it currently exists in any related application.

Essentially, what I need to do is place/position a couple/several lines of text in a region (upper left, upper right, lower left, somewhere I can mark or tag) of a picture/image. Likely a TIFF, could also be a PDF or perhaps almost any other format.

The text would differ (has to be unique) per pic/image file.

The real need is if if this could be automated in a batch sequence.

It would likely help the cause to point out that the bulk of one category (format) of the pic/image file is always the same size/resolution and a TIFF. it can be said the same for another category, such as JPG and/or PDF.

Any thoughts on this? Basically, where I work, this is done by hand editing one image at a time to type in the text and position then save it back. But for hundreds of drawings/documents it is still time consuming, tedious and expensive to produce.

I am open to suggestions. Thanks for any constructive response.

One approach may be a macro recorder. Once the image editor is open, record the actions to mark an area and do everything but provide the text. Then key in the text. Perhaps a second macro to save the image.

I'm no whiz with graphics programs. Perhaps one of the image editors is programmable... maybe gimp? Someone heavy into graphics may com up with something better.

Thank you very much for your reply.

I do know that Gimp, Paint.net, Photoshop and others do not seem to have quite this feature I am looking for (as I have those applications myself).

So far, my online search seems to have born some fruit, but I am not sure until I actually get the time to experiment with what I found.

    Maybe this, maybe not:

Picture Studio .EXE Professional - Software Informer. Picture Studio .EXE Professional is a comprehensive imaging suite.
