DirectX 11 not working

Hello,

Several games I play require DirectX to operate, but it is either missing or not working. Whenever I run the directx 11 setup downloaded from Microsoft's site, I get an internal system error. It tells me to look for dxerror.log and directx.log. Dxerror.log wasn't there, and I have no idea what to do with Directx.log.
Can someone tell me how to solve this problem? I attached the DirectX.log.

Harmjan

Hi, Welcome to Seven forums.

Perform a file check. You can follow this tutorial SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Get the latest DirectX from here. Download DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from Official Microsoft Download Center

Ditto what Andrew says, for the most part. DirectX 11 is included with Windows 7. There can be updates but they occur through the normal Windows Update. If your system is up to date, you have DX-11. To see what version you have and to check for errors, enter dxdiag in the search box and hit enter.

Perhaps your hardware doesn't support it. (Video Card)

Microsoft DirectX is included as an integral part in Windows operating systems. You can update DirectX by applying the latest service pack or other updates through Windows Update

Actually it can be updated, though it's been a while since any new updates were released. However, as you stated, it's base package can't be uninstalled.

However if you're having DX issues with games or whatnot, it is advisable to download the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer

Okay, I shouldn't have said it cannot be updated. It can, but not a large update if that makes sense. Minor improvements can be made to it, but as i understand the whole thing cannot be replaced with a higher version. Though some things in the way it works can be updated/altered.

Yeah you are correct. And honestly, the "available updates" are mostly refresh files to insure anything corrupted or overwritten by older files are thus fixed/replaced. That's basically what the runtime/redistributable files are for. Every now and than files are updated, but those are few and far in between.

Anyway you aren't far off the track, just didn't want people to think there are never updates.

I gotcha

@Harmjan

1.) Are you having problems with some games?

2.) Are your graphics drivers up to date?

3.) If you are concerned about windows corruption, try sfc /scannow.

See this tutorial:

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Use step/option 2, post the results.

Hey, thanks for helping me with this issue. In reply to Andrew's last post:

1. There are some games I can't run because of this directX error. I get a popup which says DirectX isn't functioning as normally and I have to reinstall it.

2.I don't , how can I check this?

3.I tried sfc /scannow and it said no integrity violations were found.

Well, it would help to fill in your system specs. I have no idea what your graphics card is so I cannot help with drivers until I know what it is.

Use speccy to get your full system details:
Then you can put them in your thread and in your profile on seven forums.
