Ever since 1999 I've owned several PDAs, and for a couple of years now I've been using PhatNotes by PhatWare for my PDAs and PC. But the new version of PhatNotes desktop didn't work with Windows Vista. So...a year ago I bought Microsoft Office 2007 which OneNote was included. Up until Windows 7 came out I've been using OneNote regularly. It installs on smart phones, and even though snycing between the PC and handhelds has a few bugs, it is adequate enough to use for note taking on the go. Now that I've installed Windows 7, I realized that the new version of PhatNotes, which I own, works perfect on the new OS. Now I have to make a choice. Because of the amount of notes I have, once I choose one of these two titles...I'll have to stick with it.
I use the Notes software for home and business. Here are the things I really need and must be included in any note software I choose.
- Sync with PDA/Smartphone
- File attachments to a note
- Security
- Categorization and filters
Both of the above mentioned programs do all of the things I've listed. Where OneNote is poor in syncing with handhelds, it is unmatched in the way it attaches files to notes. PhatNotes syncs perfectly with handhelds but it's file attachment is similar to that of email attachments. It works, but you have to click on each attachment to see the file.
So...which note software do you think would be best?
