Windows 7: Installer Freezing Problem

Installer Freezing Problem

I was doing some work on my neighbor's Windows 7 laptop today (she's an old lady who barely uses it), and I ran into an odd problem. Most installers freeze after loading their background. The ones I tried were the Logitech SetPoint installer as well as a few Adobe ones (Flash Player, Reader, etc.). Her computer has barely anything on it (she doesn't even have a browser other than Internet Explorer 11).

Here is a screenshot I took of two installers freezing in the way described (I wasn't trying to run two at once when the problem started; this was just so I didn't have to take multiple screenshots):

Any help on this issue would be appreciated, as I'm currently stumped.

Welcome to the forum AudioMan612,

MSINFO32:
  • Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
  • Save the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
  • Also, save a copy as a .txt file and include it also (it's much more difficult to read, but we have greater success in getting the info from it).

The computer is not in my possession, so it will take me a bit to be able to test anything. I forgot to mention, the problem also occurs when in Safe Mode.

I hate McAfee myself, but my neighbor paid for it, so she won't want it removed (permanently at least).
