Windows 7 - Java & EI 8

I just installed the new beta on Win 7 (64bit) which included the new EI8 beta. At first I was SUPER impressed at the lightening speed of EI when it loaded and would go through tabs then I installed the latest JAVA build 6 with update 11

from then on it was hell... it would take a full 5 seconds to load or load tabs. So I uninstalled JAVA and it fixed it...

Then I was redirected to download JAVA 6 with update 12 which apparently supported 64bit version.... and again the same problem... it's slowing down the browsing.

When I check Control Panel for the version of JAVA, it acknowledges that it is build 6 with update 12... but on the Icon it's saying JAVA (32bit)

Does anyone else have this problem and thoughts? I'm going to uninstall it again but I know htat certain websites can't live without JAVA...

Hi jasroach and welcome to the forum!

Instead of installing Java online, please try downloading the redistributable package and install, restart and do the java update.

I'll give that a try and update to see if it worked

Before you proceed installing java again, I'd suggest downloading CCleaner from here. Configure your preference, run registry scan, fix issues and run the cleaner. That should clear some trash left behind by your previous installs

I reinstalled it... I first manually downloaded it again, and this time was given the option to download the 64-bit version of Update 12.... (last time obviously it was still the 32bit OOps) and now it's running nice and smoothly again as it should...
