Strange capture problem with Vegas 9

I'm having an odd problem with the capture in vegas 9. I usually don't have any problems, however, since switching to windows7 it is capturing in a way I haven't experienced before. Usually, when capturing, the clip logs at cuts in the tape (when you've stopped and started recording) and results in "clipname001" and so on. This is still happening, but it is separating my clips almost very 3 seconds, so shots are being totally cut up, which is a nightmare to deal with. Anyone had a similar (or exactly the same) issue? I'm using a canon hv20, transferring through a 4 to 6 firewire (which worked perfectly before the switch, though I had to go through a small change in the firewire driver, which was already on the device manager list, I just had to select it). Any ideas?
