some website links cause the opening of a blank page

    Hi everyone

On a large number of occasions when I click on a link on a website , ie opens a blank page caption.
I found that the only way to get to the link you require is to right click on the mouse and click
on copy link and put that in the browser.

That is not the obvious way it should work.

Have done some research on the net for a solution, but so far I am stuck with the problem.

    Any comments very welcome.

    regards,

Hi Fred and welcome to SevenForums,
If you have Internet explorer pinned to your taskbar right click it and click on Start In-Private browsing,
You can also open ie and use Alt+TI or Menubar/ Tools/ In-Private browsing,
See if that makes any difference,
    Cheers.

    Hi your welcome,
    Look forward to an update,
    If no real difference

Open ie as you always do,
Use Alt+TD or Gear symbol on the top right/ safety/ Delete browser history,
Uncheck all of the boxes and click on delete.
Note this does not delete any of your existing logins...
Close ie and re-open and test again,
    Cheers.

Thanks everyone for their help !

In the end , a friend of mine , a qualified MS Technician fixed it .Unbeknown to me I had caught a number of viruses , so he cleaned the laptop up . Things are going fine now. He told me not to use clean up programs as c clean by Piriform , he felt that they don't do much.

Have a great weekend and thanks again guys,

    Thanks for the update,
Your friend is correct windows has as good and safer tools built in,
I'm sure your friend pointed out the built in tools to use,
The best defense against viruses and malware is your security which you haven't said what you have but,
    These are what I use,
    Microsoft security essentials = Free
    Malwarebytes premium = not free
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
And to clean up tracking cookies I use
Superantispyware = does have a free version that's very good,

    Cheers.
