Windows 7: Google Earth

Using Windows 7 RC, Google Earth 5.1 runs fine.

Upon installing the released version of Windows 7 Professional, Google Earth will not run in the DirectX mode. As the program loads, the screen flashes and results in a BSOD.

Anyone else having this problem?

Could it be that the two versions of Win 7, cause my graphics adaptor (RadeonX600) to react differently to the program?

Have you checked the directX status, by running dxdiag? did you install the directx version for your card?

Dxdiag shows no problems.

This is an older card. ATI has no Windows 7 drivers for it, so the Microsoft driver was used. The driver for Windows 7 Pro is a different (more recent) version than the Windows 7 RC driver. Perhaps the newer driver has some bugs.

Anyway, since the card is 5 years old, I ordered a new graphics card.

Hopefully that will solve the problem.

Thanks.
