bin Formatted File To A csv Format: How ?

    Hello,

Any "easy" way of converting a bin formatted file to a csv file ?

Tried via Excel, but no luck.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Bob

bin is short for binary. What kind of binary file is it? Is it an excel file?

    From OP: Binary File Question

    Hi,

    Thanks for help; appreciate it.
I'm not smart enough with this "stuff" to really answer your question regarding type of binary file.

    Some background.

Have a radio scanner which has a software package where you enter lots of frequencies you are interested in.
It has been told to me that it is a "Binary File"

If I open it up with Excel, it shows:
    ÿ8kÂ_Iå tZ–ºAIRTRAN Æ

I have a new scanner now, with its own software, and apparently it saves the information in a .csv format. Too bad the first one doesn't, apparently.

Would love to be able to transfer the information/files from the old to the new, without having to re-do it all. Lots of work.

    Thanks again,
    Bob

Is creates a binary file.... so only readable by applications which understand the logic. Can you read the data in the old-scanner software and do "save as" or something alike?
