SpeedFan 4.38 Released / Full Win 7 Support

This is a very interesting release. It adds full support for a lot of new hardware. AMCC/3WARE users will be happy to see SMART data for all of their EIDE/SATA hard disks. Full Intel QST support has been added too (you need to RUN AS ADMIN on some OS). Support for new SMBuses (like nVidia MCP79 and SiS968) is there. New chips (like the ADT7470 and the ADT7462) have been added and support has been improved for some others. ITE IT8720 identification has been greatly improved. DELL support is now tested on more chipsets. Windows 7 32 and 64 bit has been added and verified. Both the installer and the executable are now digitally signed. A lot of refinements, improvements and bug fixes were applied.

Just tried 4.39 and it doesn't work with Win 7!

    Anyone else experience this?

I start the program dne it never shows temperatures and I can't even get a menu when I right click on it.

Works fine for me. Takes a bit to initialize. I run it as an administrator though.

Tried it as administrator and I can get to the GUI but it locked up and it never displayed any fan or temperature readings.

Hmm, I don't know. It does freeze up for a few seconds sometimes on initialization for me, but always works after that. Could be having problems with your specific hardware, couldn't really say. You could try uninstalling it and reinstalling. I'm using 4.40 Beta 5, you may have success with it, but you have to register with the site to get it. And run it as administrator.

And instructions for installing the beta..

In order to run this beta, simply install SpeedFan 4.38, then replace the EXE and then run SpeedFan as usual.

Unfortunately the beta did not do the trick either.

I don't know then, sorry. Is all you're needing it for is temperatures? If so, there's other alternatives. HWINFO32, SIW, Core Temp, Real Temp, GPU-Z.

    Airbot,

Thanks for the information. I was hoping to use speed fan because I have used it for a while and like all of it's features.

I've opened a bug with the SpeedFan people, so we'll see if they can help me resolve it.
