    Utorrent Access Denied

I'm running the latest Utorrent Stable on WIndows 7 Public Beta.

After a few seconds I get an error: access denied for whatever file I'm downloading.

I believe this has to do with Utorrent being unable to access the file. I've disabled windows defender and indexing in my torrent dir but nothing is helping.

Anybody have this problem or anyideas?

x64 if that makes a difference. Not running any intivir/spyware

    Thanks!

    Ironic!

Ironically I found the answer after days of searching

It wasn't even the indexing causing a problem!

I had created a Library to keep my Downloads on three different partitions readily accessible. Never really used it but enabled it when I first installed win7

That was causing all the trouble!

I realized it after I created a C:\Torrents folder and had a few torrents complete.

Deleting the library solved the problem.
Sorry for the post! Thanks for offering the help though!

    Actually

Even after deleting the library I can't download to my user's download folder.

    Hmmm....

Tried even enabling admin. Not sure if I should manually change permissions on the dir?

Anyway, at least c:\torrents is working fine :)

    I get the same error

I recently reinstalled Vista OS (out of box state) and upgraded to Win7. Prior to doing this I never saw this error message before.

Any way here is the screen shot (attached).

Also was able to download files from the internet such as the torrents themselves as well as firefox itunes etc via ie and firefox.

    Please help

Hi searob, welcome to the forums.

Are you trying to download to a network location? If the network location is not accessible or shared properly then µtorrent will flag this error when it cannot access the drive/folder it's trying to download to.

Not the answer but if you are still running the BETA then upgrade / (clean install) at least the RC build 7100.

The beta will stop working very soon if it hasn't already.

maybe you just need to Take Ownership of the folder so you can have write access to it? worth a shot.

    There is a simple solution

Thanks that you were opened this thread. I've figured out how to deal with "access denied" notification when using utorrent. I found out that when I changing sharing rights and access right of the folder where I downloading something, I get an ability to uncheck "Read only" access permission of that folder. I am unbelievable happy that if I unchecked "Read only" check box in property menu of the folder, then I get an ability to download any files there !!!
