Snagit vs Jing vs Camtasia

Why do these companies always have multiple softwares that are essentially the same thing? I went to their website, and cannot figure out wtf is the difference.

All of them can record on your screen. I think 2 of them can edit. IDK.

I use Snagit & Camtasia and there are plenty of differences between the two. True, Snagit does have screen recording capabilities, however those capabilities are very limited. Camtasia is a very powerful program which produces outstanding results.
I've never used Jing, i've heard it's good though.

As Snagit & Camtasia are completely different softwares the poll isn't really relevant.

What do you use Snagit for? Doesn't Camtasia do everything Snagit does? Camtasia really is the best one to use.

I use Snagit for taking static screenshots for tutorials and such. You can add stamps, highlight, draw, add text etc.

I use Camtasia to record the screen for YouTube vids etc.

I think they're worlds apart.
