My new 64bit 7 HP laptop came with a webcam. I haven't used one before and apparently I need some software to make it work. Are there any good free ones that I could try before I decide whether it will be something that I really will use? Suggestions appreciated.
Is it the integrated webcam? The drivers should already be loaded.
Open Quickplay and you can test your webcam there by clicking on the Webcam Icon. Or open up a video call program such as MSN Messenger or Skype and test it on there.

I did as you suggested using Skype and it worked. I don't suppose you can do anything about the ugly face that showed up on my screen. Thanks for the help.

No problems glad I could help.
I don't know how old you laptop is but do a search for CyberLink in the Start Menu its a program that comes with some HP laptops that allows you to add cool effects to your webcam!!
