    Re: C++

    Personally I'd remove all 2008 versions and run Cccleaner then reboot and let UVK take care of the install like you did before. It will install only the latest versions and service packs that are required.

    Re: ARJ vs Dad.

    You could try matching your display name and user name as in Post #92. So you've got ARJ on your login screen and to save confusion it would be better to match names.

    Re: Your test account that you created. You can delete it via Control Panel > User Accounts and choose not to save any files when asked.

    Re: EagleGet. Well done for solving the problem yourself!

    Like I said - I know little about Chrome. If you want to keep using the extension then I'd suggest getting advice on a fresh install of Chrome but you'd need to at least export bookmarks first. Then with a fresh install maybe try reinstalling the latest version of EagleGet and see if the problem returns.

    Re: All Users.

    On my machine All Users is the same as Users.

    Have a look at UVK's Quick User Manager - in the left pane highlight the account you use to login and change the display nane to match.

    I spoke too soon. I now can't install CCleaner standard, even without the EagleGet extension in Chrome. It doesn't seem to matter which browser I use either - fresh downloads of the ccsetup504.exe using both IE11 and Firefox 37.0.2 result in the same 2 errors.

    CCleaner Slim still installs, thankfully.

    Re: C++

    I updated C++ using UVK, but it re-installed almost all that I already had.

    I don't know where all of my versions have come from, but are there any I don't need? Does Microsoft have a list of the latest version of every C++ runtime that is still relevant?

    I think I have one or two that you don't have and vice versa.

    Okay it now seems that it's definately a MS Visual C++ Runtime problem. It would appear that something does indeed require older versions that you've removed. Maybe EagleGet?

    I'm looking at the versions that you've got mow and the versions that you had and attemoting to find the download links.

    I've found what I think is a decent list here:

    Will post soon on the versions that I think you might need to reinstall.

    I wonder if the problem is Chrome. The files wouldn't auto download, when I clicked on the "download" links.

    Chrome?

    Sorry for the late reply. Chrome? I reckon a reinstall of Chrome would be a good idea. Along with the EagleGet extension. I've been digging around on the EagleGet forum but managed to find users with C++ issues who are advised to install C++ but no specific versions other than the latest ones.

    Well, after all this, there's a new version of CCleaner (standard) (5.05.5176) and it's installed from the Downloads folder without a hitch.

    Whatever Piriforn has done appears to have worked, as I haven't yet found the time to sort out Chrome.

    I agree that Chrome looks like the culprit and am crossing my fingers that fixing it will solve everything. The new new version of CCleaner still takes an age to erase (1 secure over-write) the Chrome cache: 28 mins for 1.8 GB of Youtube vids.

    Also SF-Diagnostics still won't run, even with a fresh download and extraction of the zip to the Downloads folder.

    I'd really like to thank you and Dude, Berton and Carwiz for your help - far above what I was expecting.

    If I can't install any future versions or I really want to solve the SF-Diagnostics problem, I'll re-open the post, if that's possible, but hopefully it won't be necessary.

    Thanks again.

    Now to get that help with Chrome...and IE.
