    Updating CCleaner

I run windows 7 64 bits and use CCleaner. I'm having difficulty up dating CCleaner to the new version, 5,05.5176. I follow all steps to update, as stated by Priform but the updated version will not Download.
I use Firefox, latest version, need assistance.

What's the error message - and are you using auto-update? (Ccleaner check for updates in settings)

Edit: Also try downloading and installing the Slim Build from here and try installing straight over the old version.

It's possible that a CCleaner file became damaged or corrupt. See if you can delete CCleaner from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then try installing a fresh copy from here:

I've been using CC Cleaner for a while now, no problems. In the last few days I've had a request from CC Cleaner to access the hard drive, I presume for an update. Because of this request I cannot access CC Cleaner to do my usual clean up. What's the best way forward allow access to the hard drive or, just uninstall CC Cleaner and use Windows Disk Clean Up instead?

Have you opened CCleaner and then clicked Check for updates in the bottom right of the screen?

I have stopped updating and reverted to an earlier version based on an issue I posted ( CCleaner Active Monitoring Returns ... over and over, and over ... ) and relevant follow-ups/related threads. Have these issues been resolved and we can return to regular updating?

Hi Paul, Thanks for your reply. No, I can't open CC Cleaner. I think I will uninstall and then re-install, there's just that nagging doubt in my mind that CC Cleaner isn't as squeaky clean as it used to be!

Have you tried running CCleaner from an elevated command prompt?
    • Click Start.
    • In the search box type cmd.
    • Right-click the cmd icon from the search results under Programs and select Run as administrator.
    • The elevated command prompt window will now open.
    Type: cd C:\Program Files\CCleaner > Enter.
Type: CCleaner.exe > Enter [or whatever you named CCleaner as followed by .exe].

    I hope this helps!

Hi Paul, It certainly did! Just found that the version I have is 5.15.5513 and the version it wants to download is 5.55.7108. Thank you so much for the information, it's great to have experts on SevenForums.

Sorry, are you saying that you managed to run CCleaner and update it and it now works?
