windows live id sign-in assistant disabled - error message

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Recently I started getting an error message on every boot: "There was a problem that caused parts of the windows live id sign-in assistant to be disabled." I have tried to install the correct version 6.5 for Windows 7 according to this Microsoft website. (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?i...) When I try to install this version, I get an error message telling me that a newer version is already installed. I have tried to uninstall the newer version (maybe incorrect version 7.0 for XP ) but there is absolutely no entry in the Control Panel's "Programs and Features" for me to uninstall the Microsoft windows live id sign-in assistant. I have checked with my Revo Uninstaller Pro software and likewise there is no entry to remove the assistant. I have checked services.msc and again that service does not show up as being there. I ran MicrosoftFixit.ProgramInstallUninstall.RNP.Run which screwed things up so that I had to reinstall Windows Live Mail but am still unable to install version 6.5 "because of the newer version" being present. I am not a newbie but I am stumped. Can someone please help me? Thank you.

I uninstalled ALL windows essentials, rebooted, and then was able to install the correct version 6.5 of sign-in assistant as noted by Microsoft. I then reinstalled all of windows essentials 2012 and rebooted. I am back now to the original error message: "There was a problem that caused parts of the windows live id sign-in assistant to be disabled." I will live with the error message each time I reboot as long as my mail is working correctly!

Hi Larry,
Suffering here from the same pain since a few days -- no clue why.
Did you find any fix or workaround, here or elsewhere ?
Thanks for your feedback !

Sorry, I never did find a fix that worked. I just simply gave up on ever finding a fix. I still get the error message every time I boot that machine. I just click on "OKAY" and move on until the next boot.
Best regards.

Thanks for your feedback Larry. I just want to let you know that I'm living quite well with the workaround to set the startup type for this service to "Manual". I never had the nasty pop-up since then. Hoping that may help you a bit too.
