Quicksys RegDefrag 2.7
The Quicksys RegDefrag is up to version 2.7 and they continue to claim it is Windows 7 compatible (both x86 and x64). Has anyone tried this latest version?

Just this minute tried it.
Worked fine.
Download Registry Defrag | Quicksys RegDefrag
The last Auslogics freeware version works fine for me too.

So does Elcor Software Registry Defragmentation
Registry Defragmentation ( registry repair \ registry optimizer \ registry fix \ cleaning registry \ registry clean )
and
Advanced Registry Doctor ( registry repair \ registry optimizer \ registry fix \ cleaning registry \ registry clean )
.
I went ahead and tried Quicksys RegDefrag 2.7 and it worked fine. As a precaution I created a restore point first, but the program does that by default. There is also an option to have the program backup the registry before defragging, but it is not enabled by default. I turned it ON.
This was the first time I defragged the registry since installing Windows 7 x64 and it reduced the over all size by about 25% I'm thinking I'll run the "Analyze" option about once a month to see what if any benefit there would be in defragging again. I'm guessing this doesn't need to be done very often (I don't install/uninstall a lot of software). As always it's good to have image backups when using software like this...be careful out there.
Great thread, very informative i have used a Reg defrag for a couple of years now. I have only had 7 installed for a week or so and this thread has answered a question i was to scared to ask as it usually creates so much controversy
I defrag the Reg about once a month but always analyse to see if it needs it, otherwise when i uninstall programs i manually edit out the program left overs from the reg and check to see if it needs a defrag
