iI Can't Uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistrib

    hello friends
i am enjoying the windows 7 and everything but, i have 1 problem
my anti-Virus which is AVG needs to update and for it to do that the manager on their forum told me i would have to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable.
the problem is that whenever i attempt to do so during the uninstallation
process it gives me this message:

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable . "Click OK to try again,or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "vcredist.msi" in the box below.

when it gives me a path selection there is no msi" anywhere
is there any way for me to uninstall this?
as always thanx for any help you guys can give me

Why does Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable need to be uninstalled just to update AVG?

This is on the Microsoft download details...
IMPORTANT: If you have installed previous pre-release versions of Visual C++ 2005 or Visual Studio 2005, such as Beta 1, Beta 2 or Community Technical Preview (CTP) builds, then you must uninstall these versions via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel before installing the final released version
Boot into safe mode and see if you can uninstall it.

this is what it tells me when uninstalling in safe mode:

""The Windows Service Could Not be Accessed
This can occur when windows installer is Not
    Correctly installed. "

I still don't understand why you need to uninstall that application to up grade AVG. I've never seen any one else who had to.

Use another free antivirus.... Uninstall AVG
    Avira
    Microsoft Security Essentials
    Avast
