Pinning from other drive? Command on shutdown?

This is a two part question. Firstly it appears that windows 7 does not let you pin programs to the taskbar unless they are in c: drive. does anyone know of a workaround or registry hack for this? I can make a shortcut on c: and then pin the shortcut but then when I launch I have two icons.

I want to run firefox portable from a ramdrive because my netbook has horribly slow ssd drive. So I have come up with what I think will work

in startup directory I have a shortcut to
    C:\Windows\System32\xcopy.exe c:\FirefoxPortable z:\FirefoxPortable /s /y

now I need to have a shortcut to write back to c: drive
    C:\Windows\System32\xcopy.exe z:\FirefoxPortable c:\FirefoxPortable /s /y

Is there a way I can make that command run on shutdown?

Have fun! With games that run live off of a cd or dvd the desktop shortcut created will lose the game's original icon once the disk is removed from the drive. Any configurations directed to any removable source are fragile to start with.

Once you pin a shortcut onto the taskbar the one on the desktop can be deleted since the copy then seen on the taskbar is still seeing the executable being directed to there. The best way to run any browser as well as any program is to install it directly onto the version of Windows or OS being run since that will see all necessary registry values created by the installer.
