Windows 7: Windows 7 DVD Maker will not make widescreen movies

Windows 7 DVD Maker will not make widescreen movies

I have a standard 4:3 TV.

I have a widescreen 16:9 video.

Whether I choose 4:3 or 16:9 in the DVD maker options, it always burns it 4:3

Not that I mind, but what I do mind is that it places black bars on ALL four sides of the dang video.

I burned with both options set, with same results.

I play the burned DVD with my laptop to confirm its not my DVD players problem, and it isn't. The burned DVD is not widescreen like the original video file.

The DVD menu is widescreen, but the playback isn't

1. How can I burn to make the video take up every inch of my screen? (No black bars anywhere)

2. How can I burn to show widescreen on my TV? (Black bars on top and bottom)

Using Windows 7.

Have you tried removing WMC and reinstalling it? Go to Turn Windows Features on or off, and de-select the Windows Media Center box. Reboot, and this time check the box. See if that works.

OK, turns out i fixed the problem by adjusting settings in the DVD Player .. i had it set to 16:9 .. once i put it back to 4:3 it fill the entire screen properly ..

Funny thou, when i burn a dvd using win avi i did not have that problem as it seems those settings here burnt into the DVD itself..

I did find something that may fix the problem, you can try it out ...

The solution for this is to import the .avi file into Windows Movie Maker and go into options and select 16:9 and either PAL or NTSC, after doing that save the project file.

Close Windows Movie Maker and then open up Windows DVD Maker and click on 'add files' then add the project file you saved in Windows Movie Maker. This will import the .avi file in 16:9 format.
I have not installed Windows movie Maker as yet hence i cant test it right now..

Remove Windows Media Center ?? I don't see how that is related to this problem, the problem i have is when viewing the DVD on an external DVD Player.
