iTunes and Windows 7 64 bit

I can't install itunes on my new Windows 7 64 bit. As soon as I click on the setup file an error message comes out that says, "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." I've been trying to find the solution for the entire day and nothing works. I tried a few DOS cmd's and downloaded through IE. I downloaded about 5 different versions of iTunes 64 bit and still nothing works.

Just found out this is a problem with Windows 7 and not iTunes. I get this error when trying to run other setups that consist of .msi files.

    Itunes

Welcome to Windows 7 support forums. We will attempt to assist you to a successful resolution of the issue of Itunes not being able to install.
Some information is required in order to trouble shoot your issue:
    1. Which version of Itunes are you attempting to install? For 64 bit machines Itunes V.9.025 is the recommended version
    2. Are you running the installation program in compatability mode? Ie: Vista 64?
    3. Are you trying the installation at Administrator level?
If you could provide us with the information we can proceed further.
P.S. Are you using Itunes in conjunction with an Iphone/Pod?

All version 9s, some verison 8s and some version 7s, all 64 bit. They all give the same error message.

I tried all the possible compatible modes while pressing "Run as Admin"

Yes, I need iTunes for my iPhone... but I don't see how that has to do with my problem. I can not install iTunes at all.

I don't think it is an iTunes problem. Because I have the exact same error message when trying to install postgresql. Both setup files have .msi files in it. Starting to think it has something to do with a corrupt Windows Install... but Microsoft has not released an update for Windows 7 Installer. The error code is 1723.

Problem solved... if anyone else is having similar problem it is because of UAC. You have to clean install Windows 7 again and disable UAC before you install ANYTHING.

Very good then, my question in regards to the Iphone is that even tho you have a succesful installation of Itunes members have reported secondary sync issues due to the mobile device driver not completely installing.
Any further issues don't hesitate to post.
If there is nothing else please mark this thread as resolved.
