Not all programs put themselves in the notification area. You could pin them to the taskbar if you use them that much.

I have noticed that sometimes the Nod32 system tray icon fails to load for some unknown reason. The program is active and working but the icon just fails to load every now and then for me. And that happens with Comodo Firewall too sometimes. When that happens, I simply log off and back on again and 99 times out a 100, the missing icons are back where they belong in the system tray.

Why these errors occur, I do not know.

Notification area
I've read Brink's excellent tutorial on how to change this area's settings. I changed the length of time a message appears. I'd like to test what I've done. How do I create a benign notification or action center message to test how long it remains on the screen? Thanks.
