    Let <system32\startup.exe> run on 64-bit?

    Hi,
Installed win 7 64-bit the other day. Everytime after startup, as my desktop shows up, a prompt "can't verify the publisher of this program" (or something like that) comes up - click 'yes' or 'no'. Been chosing 'no' so far, not knowing if the program should be let loose or nor not.
    Someone?

That doesn't sound good. I'm also running Win 7 64 bit and I don't have startup.exe anywhere on my system. Try looking at the file's details under properties and see what it says.

I would upload the file to VirusTotal - Free Online Virus and Malware Scan and run a scan.

    Working day.....
All I can say know (time!) is that I hit the "run" button after talking to my support guy. If something happens I'll just reinstall win 7. Work huh... always work... Hopefully it's not mallware but the program I'm looking for that will make my Cubase SX 2 run as well as Photoshop 7.0. Or not... Will try when back home (= aprox 6 hours).
Thanks for them inputs so far though!

Hmm.. took a bit longer than mentioned above. But, everything's working fine it seems. Clicked 'run' and checked the box 'don't show me this again' (sort of). Think it may have been a program needed to run 32-bit applications in 64-bit OS. Who knows..? Now I'm about to install photoshop 7.0 and a few other older programs. Get back to you if something should occure, even though my reckless handling of the situation most certainly have made an more empirical aproach more than difficult. Having most things on external back up and yet only a few programs installed....
