Nero has a good PR/Marketing team as well as other CD/DVD burning software vendors. In this regard, they were able to make Nero synonymous with burning, which down plays the native burning functionality of windows.

Plus don't forget the fact the most OEMs partner with some 3rd party CD/DVD burning vendors to ship with their products for free to make their own product more marketable and don't highlight the fact that your OS comes with a built-in fully functional burning capability without the need for any complex burning softwares. In fairness, 3rd party burning softwares offer a more robust way of burning that offer a lot of other functionality and integration that is not offered natively.

So not a lot of people are really aware that their OS can easily do burning tasks.

Nero always was the number one choice for burning for many people.

Why doesn't MS just market and/or mention a little more this feature to less knowledgeable people out there?
Would be nice, then stress about just going out and buying third party software to burn a simple data file or large program.

Honestly, idk why M$ doesn't educate people of the native CD/DVD support included in their OS. It has been around since XP

If you've experienced seeking burning assistance from OEM's tech support, they'd alway revert back to having customers use the windows native burning support and just have them uninstall the 3rd party app that's causing the difficulties, funny ain't it?

I too often read comments, online, with people crying about how Nero is too big, and installs lots of unnecessary crap, or Nero steals all file associations, or ran away with my missus etc

That might happen if you don't choose to do a Custom install of Nero. What else would anyone expect that it would do ?

If you do a Custom install, it is very simple to choose which components and associations you wish to install .

Too easy if you pay attention while doing the install, and probably not really a problem if you don't .

Nero Burning Rom and NeroVision Express are working fine for me .
