. Net Questions, Please

Hello,

I just posted the following in the General Forum.
I realize that it should probably have gone here.

I apologize for this double posting, as I really don't want to go against any Forum protocols. Very, very appreciative of all the help I've received.
--------------------------
New HP PC. 64 Bit Windows 7 Home Premium

Have been fighting this problem of Windows Explorer stopping every 1/2 hour or so, and then restarting again, for another 1/2 hour perhaps.

The Event Log shows zillions of items, most with ATI mentioned.

There are new ATI Drivers, apparently, for my ATI graphics card.

So, with agreements from those knowledgeable folks here, I tried to download them and install them.

The ATI site says I need Microsoft .New SP2 on my PC or I will get an error msg.
Well, I did get a msg to the effect that it did not install.

a. I tried the Windows 7 search box for .net, but nothing came up.
Does this mean that I don't have .net installed, or that it just isn't picked up by the search ?

b. Should my new PC have come with it ?

My Windows 7 is a 64 bit version.
There seem to be many, many, versions of .net available for Downloads, as well as Service Packs.

c. If I do have to install it, can someone please tell me Exactly what I
should install ?

- Should I install any of the Service Packs afterwards ?

- There also seems to be .net SP3 available.
Is this what I want ?

Much thanks,
Bob

a & b. The Microsoft.Net framework is installed with Windows 7 and will be found in your Windows folder.

c. Run Windows update to see if there are any sp's or updates for .Net - it's always advisable to keep those runtimes up to date since many different applications rely on them these days (sort of like the old VB and C runtimes from back in the day).
