Installers not starting from outside OS drive

I have some installers that worked fine in XP but don't install when run from outside the OS partition.

All 4 I tried should be NSIS-type installers(but it does not apply to all NSIS installers, the Imgburn one runs fine outside OS partition):
mkx.y.9.exe - Haali Media Splitter
SetupDVDDecrypter_3.5.4.0.exe
wa5_coloreditor_2_2_0.exe - Wianmp Color Editor
WaSDP_1.11.exe - Winamp Skin Dev Pack

From the event log, it seems to be some ntdll.dll fault.

But they install if I move the problem installers to the OS partition.
By the way, I'm on Win7 Pro x64.

Could you explain that a little better?

You can use Universal Extractor to extract the contents pg these files.

I have 3 hard drives in my computer.
The Win7 partition is on one hard drive.
The downloaded files are in a partition on a second hard drive.
The said installers are part of the downloaded files.

I want to know why they can't run from there in Win7 but is able to run from there in the older XP.

Tried running it as admin.
The problem persists.

As said in the first post, the installers run fine if moved to the OS partition (e.g C:/)
But why they run fine outside the OS partition in XP?

Ok, I finally solved this one.
Its strange but on more fiddling I found out that the said installers only refuse to run in that one folder.
They run fine in another folder on the same HDD.

Perhaps its some path corruption when I was setting the path of the Downloads user folder to that folder.

I solved it by moving the files to another folder then deleting the old folder.

Almost new Inspiron 5720- Home Premium. i7 quad. After installing three or four updates yesterday my laptop now clicks the optical drive a couple of times as I start any video or music file on the hard drive. Not a fatal flaw, but, very irritating just the same. Did a system restore to the...

Silent Installers
I downlaoded RT 7 Lite (windows 7 equivalent to vLite) and there is an option to intergrate programs into the installation. It says it needs to be silent installers though. Can i turn any program installer to a silent installer, or take my installed programs, and make a silent installer out of...

Installers that add to the Start menu, in XP
I have some program installers that, in XP, put a folder of shortcuts into the >> All programs menu (actually into the folder C:\Documents and Settings\DarkStar\Start Menu\Programs). When I run that installer in Windows 7, where, if anywhere, will that folder of shortcuts be placed?

Installers. Why?
This thread is just a pondering, not a real technical question. That's why I've put it here. Sorry if it's in the wrong place! New poster here. :D Why use installers? A recent experience has made me question the purpose of installers in general. Why not just have big Zips that you unzip into...

Installers use wrong drive/partition, fix?
Okay, I'm dual booting W7 right now, as drive G: (Vista is C: ). My problem is that installers like to use C: rather than G:, is there a setting somewhere where I can make my absolute main drive G:, rather than C:? Some installers correctly use G:, while others (NSIS based, some others) use...
