The Print Shop 23, Deluxe or Pro Publisher Compatible?

Does anyone know if Broderbund's The Print Shop 23, Deluxe or Pro Publisher, compatible with Win7?

32-bit - Deluxe is reported to work, Pro Publisher - no news found.

    64 bit?

    Thanks

As an FYI I installed The Print Shop 23 Pro Publisher on Win7 64-bit.

Installation was clean and uneventful. A cursory test of major functions was done and all seemed fine.

User has not reported any problems but it is the holiday season and I know it has not actually been exercised thoughly as of yet.

According to the Broaderbund web site, V23 is NOT Windows 7 compatible. That doesn't mean it won't install but not all functions may be available.

They have a new version, not yet released, that will be Win 7 compatible.

Interesting. According to the ENCORE support site v23 is the only version compatible with Windows 7 32 bit. They state that it MAY work with 64-bit....

One post anong a few with variations in the Encore forums...

I installed Print shop version 23 on my home laptop running Windows 7 64-bit, and it's working fairly well. However, I did have a few problems. When printing from PS to my Canon MP970 printer, it prints whatever number of pages I select, but squared. So if I select 3 copies to print, the printer will spit out 9 copies. Weird, I know. I just have not invested the time to fix it, but I am certain it's a problem with Print Shop 23 because I don't have this issue in any other application.

Also, during the install, I had some problems with the .NET framework. Apparently W7 wanted .NET version 1.1 on my computer, but I was able to move past that issue but installing it separately.

I, too, was experiencing some problems with The Print Shop 23 Pro Publisher Deluxe, specifically to address the questions left here concerning Windows 7 32bit and 64bit compatibility... I've loaded the program into both areas (one at a time, of course), namely the "Programs (x86)" for 32bit, and just "Programs" for 64bit and experienced only ONE problem with its functionality - that being the "Save as PDF" option (another question posted previously), which, regardless of my efforts, crashed every time I made the attempt to perform the task. I finally remembered the old axiom, "Google is my best friend," and did some digging before foolishly doing a lot of other mods that would end up only making the hole I was creating for myself bigger and deeper. Since I've adequately addressed the compatibility question (remember that Encore will naturally say, "It may function normally with the OS being used..." only since they don't want the liability of it not doing what they claim it will. That being said, let me offer a solution that definitely will solve your PDF Creation & Save issue. Remember to not get ahead of yourself, and follow the instruction text word-for-word. It's a "for sure" solve, and a post here either confirming your success or any difficulties in the process you may encounter, can only be more helpful to you: Here's how to proceed with the solution:

The Broderbund PDF creator requires that the user add a port to allow the program to function on Windows 7 64-bit. The installer does not make all of the necessary changes for the user. If the user does not make these changes, the application will become unresponsive and crash beginning the pdf creation process.

The steps to repair this issue are:
    1. Open Devices and Printers from the Control Panel.
    2. Right click on Broderbund PDF Creator.
    3. Click on Printer Properties.
    4. View the Ports tab.
    5. Click on the Add Port… button.
    6. Highlight “Local Port” and click on the New Port… button (Not New Port Type…)
    7. Enter any name for the port. 8. Restart Your Computer

    9. Return to the application.
    10. Save your project as a PDF.

I'd wish you good luck here, but you won't need it - just patience and common sense will do the trick...

Well, what the heck, good luck anyway!
