Cant download rar's and zips! NEED HELP!!

Ok so last night everything was working fine but now all of a sudden i cant download rar files and zips.

I have winrar and 7-zip and they both dont work. I have also tried browsers: IE/FF/GC.

This is the error i get when i try and open/save a rar or zip file.

I noticed that it says "DTOWNF~1" .. but my folder is "Dtownfresh"

Are the files that you are having problems with all from one location? If so, the problem might be at their end.

EDIT: If the files aren't private, give us a link so that we can see if the problem is the same for us.

He listed IE as well as 2 others. I would have recommended trying Opera, but with 3 strikes against it, I doubt that Opera would fare any better.

It has nothing to do with the browser.. and i tried it with tons of other downloads also... it wont work. I think it has something to do with my user folder name like i said.

Did you install anything recently when this started?
Or maybe an antivirus or made a change to some setting?

DTOWNF~1 btw is the 8.3 DOS name...

The only time that I ever had a problem something like this, is when I had used Takeownship on some junction folders in Documents and Settings. I corrected that by deleting my user account and recreating it. Before trying anything like that, I would recommend seeing if you have this problem when logged in the root Administrator account first. If not, then the problem is localized to your user account.

I'd try creating a new account. If its fine, something broke the junctions in your account. Delete CCleaner and Defraggler. Use Disk Cleanup and Windows' defrag.
