Adobe CS3 Fireworks Issue - Fix
I've seen similar posts but nothing with the same problem I had so I thought I'd post the fix I used to correct this in the hopes it helps someone along the way.
Adobe Fireworks CS3 was running oddly on windows 7. I use this program so much in my job that I was freaked when I tried running it after upgrading to windows 7. When ever I selected a tool, the cursor would act very strange and jumpy, causing it to be near impossible to do any detail work.
If you are having this issue, here is the fix:
Hit your start button and search for Fireworks. When the program comes up in the listing, right click on it and go to Properties.
Once in that window, go to the compatibility tab and make the following changes:
Check off "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" then set it to windows xp service pack 2.
Check off Disable visual themes
Check off Disable desktop composition
Click on the "Change settings for all users" button at the bottom of the window
Make the same changes on the compatibility tab for all users that you see listed above.
From this point on every time you run fireworks CS3, it will disable the Aero elements and other conflicting graphic enhancements that are causing the program to run like poo. When you close the program down, the settings will revert back to normal for your windows 7 environment.
I hope this helps someone, I ripped my hair out for two hours trying to get this program running normal again lol.
