No More Free Revo Uninstaller???

Has anyone else noticed that there is no longer an offer for the free version of Revo Uninstaller on the Revo website. All that I can find is the Pro version which comes with a 30-day trial. Is it just me??

If this is true, I am totally bummed. Revo Uninstaller is awesome, but not "pay for it" awesome.

The free version is still available. The paid for pro version is optional if you want the new feature that includes the ability to monitor your downloads. I'm assuming from Revo's website that the pro version of Revo Uninstaller can now do what their competition "Total Uninstall" already does.

Try it. I installed the Pro version the other day.

Looks good. Unfortunately, there isn't much I want to uninstall just now.

It does pick up the apps. in The Programs folder , as well as those in Program Files (x86).

Hi all
Happy Xmas -- waiting for "Little one's" to make my Breakfast

Why bother with these type of apps

The "Bog standard" uninstall from Windows 7 Control Panel works pretty good - I rarely use the applications native uninstall these days but go straight to control panel===>programs and features then select the application and choose uninstall.

I think I'd much rather Microsoft handling the registry than 3rd party apps anyway.
Cheers

Hi Jimbo,

As far as I know, it is the same.

The Uninstall feature in the control panel only runs the programs own uninstall module. That's all.

Merry Christmas.

Hi there

Busy ripping loads of CD's at the moment

The uninstall via control panel will often uninstall stuff that DOESN'T have an "uninstall" option so that's not always the case that Windows does what REVO does.

I still prefer NOT to use a generic 3rd party app.

Actually I also backup an image before installing software so I can restore the image if the software isn't any good or I just want to get rid of it.

A far safer option in any case. Windows 7 image takes around 15 mins with Acronis.

Cheers

LOL - have fun with the cd's.

Not sure about that Jimbo.

I think you will find the Windows uninstall only runs the apps. own uninstall module.

The app. may not have presented the uninstall option in start menu shortcuts - doesn't mean it's not there in the program files folder.

Unless they changed the way it works in 7.

I probably uninstalled around 20 apps. last week - not unusual for me - I try out a huge amount of software.

You're absolutely right , it's always a good idea to have a recent backup image.

I am using Paragon Drive Backup 10 Server for imaging. They have reduced resource usage even more in the new series.
