Hiyya Brink Just seen your post re Adobe Reader 10.0.0.1
Can you let me know where you got this from as I cannot find here in Australia I can only access the one 10.0.0 version.

Have tried the official site (really don't feel happy with third party links mate cos of probs in the past) but it just tells me I have the current ver.

Did you download it and install? It says 1000, but if you hover over the downloaded installer, it will show the 10.0.0.1 version mark there.

I got it from the link in the first post. Windows 7- English - Reader X.

No Airbot the thing just installed it didn't give me the option of save and hovering over the Reader in P&F's and Start all progs doesn't do anythin either.
Hmm perhaps I'd better uninstall and try again. Just for interset I did download from the Adobe site and not the link on this forum perhaps that is why I have got what I have.
Now don't get me wrong but I have been getting a lot of advice from another forum to not click on links from web sites (forums etc) and emails. This is because I have become a bit paranoid after my probs with some stuff I have downloaded as such. Pehaps the "advice" was itslf a bit paranoidal eh?
    Anyway I'll try that way.
    Regards

I downloaded it through Firefox which gave me the option to save the installer, or just install/Run. IE may just make you install it and not give an option. You can download it from filehippo also. It's a safe site, nothing to worry about. It is the latest Adobe Reader X version.
    Download Adobe Reader 10.0 - Technical Details - FileHippo.com

The latest (version 10) is also from the link on the first post of this thread. More specifically 10.0.0.1, but if you installed form the Adobe site or used the link here, it's the latest one so nothing to worry about.

Links posted here generally are going to be safe, unless someone posts a sketchy link and that doesn't happen much. It would be removed when found out anyway. Major site link like Adobe.com, or filehippo, etc are safe.

Anyway will let you know how / if it went ok. << beaut day today!!

mikedl; If you want to stay with an x64 based browser, ICit2lol, use [URL="http://www.tracker-software.com/product/pdf-xchange-viewer" said:
PDF-Xchange[/URL] as a 64 bit plug-in .....The PDF-Xchange viewer is especially impressive, and free.
I couldn't agree more. PDF-Xchange does the job very nicely and proves that there really is no need for bloatware like Adobe PDF reader.

    That Secunia app

Have deleted it - it was causing too many problems with downloading stuff so am going to stick with the originators sites. Just thought it was a good idea at the tiem to have an app to pick up on updates as they came out - not sure but maybe some were betas or what.
As for my little problems with Flash well alls well including Reader X thank heavens they were driving me mad.

    Adobe Reader X 10.0.1 Released.

       Information

    Latest release
Numerous security fixes as well as improvements to Protected Mode, QTP support, Flash, and support for SCCM via newly released SCUP catalogs.

       Note
Still shows as 10.0.0.1 with the downloaded installer like the one released in November did, but supposedly it's a new 10.0.1 update. Different file size as well. Probably just an overlooked numbering.

I just downloaded & installed the Adobe Reader from Adobe's Website. It has a feature listed under Preferences, called Reading. Supposedly you can have a pdf read aloud to you. I am trying to get it to read aloud using the Microsoft voice on my computer but its not working.

Anyone using this Read Aloud feature?

If you hadn't mentioned it I would have know it was there. I activated the feature from the menu and then told it to read a document and it worked for me. lol, the first thing it said was "Warning empty page". I guess that was because the cover was an image and not a page of text?
