Itunes registry problem install
iTunes v 9.02 had been working perfectly on win 7 64 ..
bought a new phone the software tried to install amd failed loads of error messages
wrong drivers long story short >> they do not support win 7 64 as yet !!!
.,
Then started getting errors on i tunes no cd burning installed would not sync very slow to load
apple suggestion was to uninstall and reinstall >> it would not reinstall tried compbatibility mode as vista sp2 it then installed but with same problems
googled the errors and it appwars it is down to a registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Installer\User Data\SO-1-5-18\Components\DA42BC89BF25F5BD0AF18C3B9B1A1EE8\108B43C0CEA676640B35306AE7D24051
the suggestion is that the key has been hijacked and you need to take ownership back
one forum had instructions
Right click & choose permissions
click advanced, and then the owner tab
type "administrators" in current owners field and check the box to replace the owner on sub container and volumes
(Note: I did this because I had another key with permission issues after I fixed the original one listed above)
Apply settings and then click permissions tab. Once again, add "administrators" to the list of permission entries, then click edit and check all permission boxes. Also click the 2 bottom boxes concerning the inheritable permissions.
Click OK
Now back on the main permissions tab, choose administrators in the group or user name window and then check full control and read checkboxes. Click OK.
Back in the main reedit window, you should now see keys in the right pane for each subfolder in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Installer\User Data\SO-1-5-18\Components\DA42BC89BF25F5BD0AF18C3B9B1A1EE8
machine will not let me//// suggestion is it is super locked can it be unlocked somehow,,,
on right hand pane it shows values as attached JPG
do these values look correct...
Any help much appreciated.... slainte mhath.. jim
