Unix DD Tool needed for Win7 64-bit - HELP PLEASE!
Unix DD Tool needed for Windows 7 64-bit
I need to recover a disk image from a failed HDD for forensics data recovery. The HDD is a failed laptop ATA-6 drive connected via an IDE/USB adapter.
Photorec can process it as is on the USB connection but is taking FOREVER. I would like to transfer the disk image to the Windows 7 HDD and process the image off of the Windows 7 HDD.
The best tool, based on what I have read, is the UNIX based "DD" utility.
The Unix subsytem for Windows v3.5 from MS does not mention Windows 7 and has several other restrictions. Several things in SourceForge look promising but pre-date Windows 7.
Does anyone know of and/or where such a DD tool can be found?
