It would be great if you could turn this tool into a desktop gadget! Just need a field where you can define a time, a counter that shows how much time is remaining and a start button. I'm looking for such kind of tool for a long time
I'm in the process of making one, at the moment I'm focusing on version 2.5 of Shutdown Timer, but I'm a bit tired of coding that now, so I'll get on to completing the gadget.
as a gadget this would be very useful

Yep you see it right, I've completed the sidebar gadget, and it's 100% working.
I hope you all like it and please donate to help the project, I have to pay server fees as well.

Feedback would be great on it.

Info on where to get it here:

Wow! Didn't expect that fast reaction!

Looks good, only one issue I have is some font shifting (see attached screenshot). It happens due to bigger font that I use on my laptop.

Just a few more proposal, please don't consider it as any kind of criticism! . This is just my ideas, nothing more.
1. Would be good if the last chosen value was stored. i.e. If I choose 30 minutes, would be good to have it already selected after next start.
2. How about a popup window 30 seconds before the shutdown with "Cancel" button on it? Sort of reminder.
3. When this timer tried to shutdown my computer one opened app didn't let it. I found my notebook working in the morning and still waiting for a confirmation for forced shutdown. mb some check box for a forced shutdown?

eye-candy part
3. mb rounded edges? Like default weather gadget
3. I'd remove the legend "Action" - it is pretty obvious, and make this field same size as duration field.
4. I'd make the timer a bit bigger, or reduce the size of the window. There are too much free space around.
5. Lists (duration and action) and the header look a bit off-centered

Thanks for the donation and the comments.

I guess I can get to work on it now to fix those issues, also I won't be able to make a way for the user to be notified 30 seconds before since the sidebar gadget functionality disables actions like that.

I'll reply back hopefully with a new version

Thanks, the sidebar gadget will not be released soon, within the next couple of days my time will be spent on finishing the first Beta for the actual software program.

You can see how it will look here:

This is turning out to a really nice program. Looks like I finally may have found my replacement for Dshutdown. Keep up the good work.

I'll be sure to try this out, looks great. I currently use Switch off but this seems to have many more options(which I love). I'll give some feedback once I download it on my main computer, I'm currently away.

Everyone will be able to download version 2.5 before it is released out to everyone in the update manager. I will be running 3 beta updates which will then hea on over to the final after testing.
