Winrar Hello,
I was using winrar on win 7 but now I removed it and I can still access zipped Folder via "windows explorer" which is cool is it enough ? or do I need to reinstall winrar? Because now I can access the files without winrar so no need to unzip them anymore.
Thanks

These days I prefer 7zip - it opens (and creates) all kinds of archives, there is a 64-bit version, and it's free. Windows on the other hand will open zip and cab files, but not rar, gz, bz2, etc. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Inspiron 530 OS Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) CPU Q6600 Memory 8 GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT Monitor(s) Displays Samsung Syncmaster P2450 Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Hard Drives Samsung HD103UJ

Hello The Iceman,
If you cannot open a ZIP file, then the ZIP download option in the tutorial below will restore the default ZIP associations back in Windows 7 so that you should be able to afterwards. Default File Type Associations - Restore
Hope this helps,

7zip is free (like you said), very minimalistic, and not bloated | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Compal JFT02 (Custom Build Laptop) OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 - Mac OS X 10.6.4 x64 CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5 GHz Motherboard JFT02 Memory 4GB Kingston DDR2-800 Graphics Card NVIDIA Geforce 8600M GT (512MB Model) Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays WUXGA Standard Laptop Display Screen Resolution 1680*1050 Keyboard Standard Laptop 105 Key-Keyboard Mouse Synaptics Touchpad PSU Standard Laptop Power Supply Case Standard Laptop Case Cooling Standard Laptop Cooling Hard Drives Toshiba 320GB 5400RPM Laptop HD Internet Speed Verizion Online DSL 3360/864 kbs (dl/up) |

I use 7Zip. I like it, although its interface isn't very Windows-ish (IMHO).
As far as I know, it can't create RAR archives, although it can expand them. Its supported formats are 7z, zip, and tar. (Tar is for Tape ARchive, popular on Unix systems.) | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number homegrown OS Windows 7 Pro X64 SP1 CPU Intel Core I7-3930k Motherboard Asus P9X79 Pro Memory 16 GB Gskill DDR3-2133 Graphics Card eVGA GTX680 Sound Card Creative X-Fi Titanium Monitor(s) Displays As PA246Q Screen Resolution 1920 X 1200 Keyboard cheap Logitech USB Mouse Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer (old optical) USB PSU PCP&C Silencer 750 Crossfire Case Silverstone FT02 Cooling Noctua NH-D14 Hard Drives Corsair Force GT, 120 GB
