Not sure what it's telling you you're up to date on what specifically. This update 18 is the latest update, it does contain fixes, just no new security fixes is what I was pointing out. If your Java is still update 17, it's still recommended to update to this one. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Airbot 2.0 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Core i7 920 (D0) @ 4Ghz, *26c idle *65c full load on air Motherboard Asus P6X58D Premium - Sata 6Gb/s - USB 3.0 Memory 12GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator -CMD12GX3M6A1600C8 at 1600MHz Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX 480 -Aftermaket Accelero Xtreme Plus cooler Sound Card ASUS Xonar D2X Monitor(s) Displays 1 LG 24" Flatron W2453V-PF 1 Samsung 24" P2450H both 2ms RT Screen Resolution 1920x1080@60hz Keyboard Logitech Wireless MK700 Mouse Logitech Wireless MK700 PSU Corsair HX1000W Case Cooler Master HAF 932 Cooling Case Fans *3 230mm, *1 140mm/CPU - *Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme Hard Drives 1 OCZ Vertex2 180GB SSD

Ahh O.K. I misunderstood what you were saying, I'll update to the new one.

How many versions JRE have been released that set an update check to run at bootup and run in memory even when unchecking that option?
A quick look at Autoruns shows that Sun may have finally fixed this very annoying, and frankly what should have been embarrassing, item. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Assembled by me OS Windows 7 Professional 64-bit CPU Intel Core i7-960 Bloomfield 3.2GHz 8MB L3 Cache Quad-Core Motherboard ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Memory 12 gb Corsair Dominator DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Triple Channel Graphics Card XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit DDR5 Sound Card Asus Essence STX Audiophile Heaven! It's had the sunjavaupdate scheduler for quite a few version that I remember. All you need to do is uncheck them with autoruns, or a similar app that handles autostartup items. Shouldn't see it running anymore after that. Or course when you install a new java version, you have to do it again. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Airbot 2.0 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Core i7 920 (D0) @ 4Ghz, *26c idle *65c full load on air Motherboard Asus P6X58D Premium - Sata 6Gb/s - USB 3.0 Memory 12GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator -CMD12GX3M6A1600C8 at 1600MHz Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX 480 -Aftermaket Accelero Xtreme Plus cooler Sound Card ASUS Xonar D2X Monitor(s) Displays 1 LG 24" Flatron W2453V-PF 1 Samsung 24" P2450H both 2ms RT Screen Resolution 1920x1080@60hz Keyboard Logitech Wireless MK700 Mouse Logitech Wireless MK700 PSU Corsair HX1000W Case Cooler Master HAF 932 Cooling Case Fans *3 230mm, *1 140mm/CPU - *Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme Hard Drives 1 OCZ Vertex2 180GB SSD

That was my point. It just makes no sense to have an option available, but not working. Many computer owners like to control what runs. Autoruns is just fantastic!
I also spoke too soon. The 32-bit version still sets an autorun update check.
Not as bad as getting splinters in your foot from hitting driftwood just below the surface while going 48 miles an hour.
