Strange happenings with Revo uninstaller
This morning I was cleaning my W7 with CCleaner. After cleaning I opened the registry cleaner to see if there was any problems - nothing. Then I opened Tools which shows installed programs with uninstaller options. I found about 20 entries for the Catalyst Control Center with most of the entries relating to languages, Chinese, Spanish, etc. I did not want any of those so I decided to uninstall with CCleaner and I got a message that I could not uninstall. I then did an internet search for Catalyst Control Center to see if it was a necessary program so I could uninstall the whole program. Did not find much relating to its necessity and did not find much as to what it was for (I know I did not install it).
I then started Revo Uninstaller to see if the same list of 20 or more entries would be there.
Then only thing Revo came up with was MS Silverlight. No other programs.
I went to the Win 7 uninstall program list and every thing was there.
I decided to do a System Restore for three days prior and I downloaded another Revo Uninstaller in case there was a glitch in the previous version. Both was successful and the long list of entries did not appear again in the CCleaner Tools and all of my programs showed up in the Revo list.
I have not installed any new programs for several weeks - only MS updates have been installed.
My system is clean according to paid versions of Prevx, Malwarebytes, and Superantispyware, and the freebie MS Essentials. I ran a HiJack This and found nothing suspicious.
The only changes I have made in the past weeks is disabling IE8 and Firefox add ons from Google - and that stopped the daily BSODs.
Win 7, 64 bit HP with 8 gigs of memory.
So, what is Silverlight, Catlyst Control Center (are they necessary) and has anyone had problems with Revo?
Windows update was set to auto - I have changed that to "ask before downloading."
