    Pinnacle Studio 12

Hi everyone. I've been happy with Windows 7 (Home Premium) so far. Except, I have run into a problem when trying to install Pinnacle Studio 12 and the "Dazzle" video capture device (model DVC100) that comes bundled in the "Dazzle Video Creator Plus" package from Pinnacle Systems.

When installing the Pinnacle Studio software i get an error partway thru saying "The file FWKICK.exe is not marked for installation." I can use the software, but each time I start the software, it tries to install it again, with the same result.

When I try to install the driver for the video capture device, i get a different error:
Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can
occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your
support personnel for assistance." Which sounds like an issue with the windows installer. I have tried installing the driver that is 64bit OS specific.

I've been on so many forums and even with the pinnacle support crew, which was pretty useless.

I've tried several things but to no avail. Not sure if it's specific to this device, or more of a problem with a corrupt Windows Installer maybe?

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium on an HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook (64 bit OS)

Any ideas or people w/ similar issues?

I have been able to install Studio 12 on Windows 7 32 and 64 bit ok along with the DVC170 (Dazzle unit) that came with my older Studio software.

    Installed ok.

Don't know what the problem is, but try installing the SETUP.EXE by going into its properties and assign a Compatiability of using Vista and see if that gets it installed and running.

Yeah, I had tried that, and did again just in case. Still getting:
"Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can

    support personnel for assistance."

It's gotta be the Windows Installer, right? Any other ideas anyone?

The software installed ok. It's the Dazzle component driver I'm having problems with.

Thanks for this post, Tinkerdog - I've tried the same, installing Pinnacle Studio 14 on my Windows 7 64 bit system - no problem whatsoever. But I wonder, how you could install the driver for Dazzle DVC 170 on this system? According to Pinnacle there is no driver for that. More: all drivers of Dazzle are NOT COMPATIBLE with Windows 7 64!! That's what they told me, so far.

Could you please check your system and tell me, which driver version you've installed?

    Thanks a lot!

What is the oldest version of Pinnacle Studio that will install on Windows 7?
