    Ultramon replacement

Has anyone found a replacement for UltraMon that works correctly with 7? Yes, UltraMon 2.6 runs in Seven without errors, but the taskbars for additional monitors (I have three) aren't the same style as Seven taskbar.

I only want two things out of this app:
    a) Taskbar on each monitor, showing the apps on that monitor only
    b) Ability to run separate wallpaper on each monitor, or apply native rez wallpaper across all three monitors

Here is example -- left image is native Seven taskbar, right image is Ultramon version.

    Thx.

2.6 isnt the latest. Have you tried the beta builds? 3.0.4 was last one but it was some time ago and I think it has issues with win7.

You could also try DisplayFusion: Multi-Monitor Taskbar and Desktop Wallpaper | Binary Fortress Software

Yeah I know, but 2.6 works better than 3 with Windows 7, based on posts on Ultramon forums.

Are you saying v3 has the correct style "Seven-theme" taskbar?

no, it doesnt :/ It didnt in vista either. DisplayFusion suffers the same thing with taskbar.

I never had a problem with it in Vista, it matched perfectly. I was using the latest beta version for that.

The beta version has issues with Seven though.

Im surprised there have been so few apps written to do this. I can think of 2 atm.

Found this, sounds more promising than the Ultramon author who has basically said it will be a while.

    Windows 7 progress?

The Ultramon developer has a lot on his plate - and to his credit his Betas worked like a champ on Vista. I used them for a long time, but I ultimately had to leave it b/c I found DF.

Jon is developing DF rapidly, and he has a lot on his plate too - but to give you an idea, look at the features already integrated into the *free* version - you'll see it offers more bang for free *and* more bang for buck considering its cost.

I bought the app within 2 days of discovering it, and I was beta testing it a lot before 3.0 came out - now he is working on background stuff, but has already bumped to 3.0.2 - the taskbar methods had to be completely re-written for Windows 7, and currently there is a taskbar, but with (unfortunately) black text on them - still now he has gotten transparency on the taskbar, and rest assured he is working hard at it.

Any idea when the taskbar support will be done?

He had it working well with 2..02 beta 0x through 21, then he abruptly changed the code for it so it looks like it does now.

But he just added transparency between 3.0.1 and 3.0.2 so I'd say sooner rather than later.

I try not to ask these questions as they are usually incisive questions - most devs say "When it's done." while others ban you :P
