Dosbox and DOS compilers

I have an old DOS based Fortran compiler (Lahey F77L) that I'd like to run under win 7 64 bit. I have heard of a program called dosbox and wonder if anyone could comment on it's suitability for old DOS based compilers?
(I know win 7 based Fortran compilers by Intel or PGI are available for a spare $600 or so)
