Just checking my email now, and have to get to work, but will get back later.

Thanks all. And sorry for any confusing remarks on my part; I'll try to be more concise, heretofore

I'm just now getting back on the PC.

I guess the best thing to do, is try to re-install IconViewer again. I tried to install the 1st one listed at the top of the heap.

When the error warnings popup, I'll make a pic and post it[them]. I'm sure you pros will recognize right-off what the problem is.

Here I go. Be back soon.

OK,

I just tried again to re-install IV, and it now said that it was installed successfully. So I right clicked on a few desktop programs and folders, but only saw the usual icons. Didn't see any new icons.

I guess this is how IV works, right? Right-click and go to PROPERTIES. That's what I did.

Oh well.

You will only have the Icons tab available in the properties page of a file if that file has a icon library included in it. For example the C:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll file.

OK.

So if you have an Icons Tab in properties, I don't understand what the point of IV would be. Wouldn't icons be shown/listed in the Icons Tab anyway? If not, why would an Icons Tab be present, if you couldn't access the icons?

I don't know, but maybe I'm just too thick.

Ah!

I'm now reading all about Icon Viewer in the file iconview.chm contained within the IV Folder in Program Files.

I'll figure it out now. I guess what happened yesterday, was I clicked on "setup".exe in the IV Folder, not knowing that it was already installed. Goofy guy, I am. That must have triggered the error flags.

Thanks again, everyone, for the bother.

Chipper,

Just to stop any confusion, for others, Iconviewer Adds the icons tab to file properties - it's not there in a default installation
