Need Harddrive recovery solution

I used to love Acronis and it was working really well for XP. Restoring a 15gb compressed image take about 10 minutes. Now, on Win7, after spend an hour trying to restore an image, it still at 30%. The image is only 10gb. It broke my heart.

To add to the insult, the process say there is 38 seconds reminding, well, have been 38 second reminding for the past 30 minutes. I gave up, I will just reinstall everything.

Can someone please recommend another solution?

Well, Windows 7 can create system images, just like Acronis. Give the Windows backup a try, you might like not having to use a third-party program.

There are several good free ones available. The most important thing is if your disk becomes unbootable, that the boot CD or DVD has drivers to recognize your disk controller. Before even doing an image backup it's probably a good idea to burn the boot CD, boot it, and see if the restore program can see your HD. If not, no sense wasting any more time. It won't work in a real emergency.
