    [Request] Can't Install DotNet 3.5

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, Version 6.1, Build 7600. I am trying to install and add-in for Microsoft Word 2003 (redaction add-in). When I click the installer, a dialog box states I need to install "Net framework." It asks it I would like to install it now. I click "yes" in the dialog box and I am taken to the Microsoft website to download the application. I downloaded the application, and when I click on it, nothing happens. I went back to download the entire file instead of the bootstrapper version, and the files will extract, but it stops and closes after the files are extracted.

I even "right-clicked" the file and selected "run as administrator," but the same thing happens. Can anyone provide any insight into this issue?

    Thanks!

Hello Joseph, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You should have a option to change the extract location. Have the files extract to your desktop instead of the default location. There most likely is a installation file included in the extracted files.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

That's weird as windows 7 ships with .Net 3.5 sp1 already installed if I'm not mistaken.
But looking at the requirements for that add-on it seems it needs .Net 1.1

you can download the 1.1 framework from Microsoft. You might need to uninstall any previous version you may have currently on the machine. This issue is unfortunately common.

.Net 3.5 is built-in to windows 7, no need to install it.

    Can't Install DotNet 3.5

I appreciate everyone's input in regards to my issues with the "Microsoft Word 2003 Redaction Add-In." After reviewing the error I receive, the dialog box states I need to install "DotNet v1.1." The dialog box asks if I was to install DotNet, but when I click "Yes," I am taken to the v3.5 website.

I searched for v1.1 and I downloaded this particular version of the DotNet framework. Can I install v1.1 even if I already have v3.5 installed, and will it affect my v3.5 installation?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can install older versions of .net while newer versions are already installed.

Thank you for your reply. When I attempt to install v1.1, Windows 7 states there are some compatibility issues with this version of DotNet. I guess I will install it, and if it causes any problems, I will uninstall it.

    Thanks again.
