Have you checked with the software company to be sure their software can work with windows 7 network card drivers?

Edit: Looks like its "abandonware", the company is not in business anymore. I can't find any postings that this software worked with windows vista, in which case it will not work with windows 7 (they use very similiar driver models, but very different from XP.) I would look for a different packet capture application, check out "wireshark". Post back with the features you need, and we will try to find a program that works with windows 7 for you.

    Great answer ccatlett1984.
I also looked and seems that you can find a few different version but I agree that it is old software dating back to 2006 and that may be the issue that it has a problem with Win7.

firewall enabled on machines? the sniffer is simply requesting information that the new OS (7) FW will most likely block. Antivirus or Tamper protection application(s) will prevent the same requests.

try disabling or uninstalling everything to do with "internet security" then try again.

closing isn't really the same thing... Unless by "closing" you meant uninstalled or disabled via Msconfig /startup
